Best Fits For Kam Jones In The 2025 NBA Draft

March 11, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Basketball

Marquette guard Kam Jones has had an incredibly productive senior season with the Golden Eagles. In particular, the upperclassman has put up stats as the main offensive engine for Marquette. Jones showed that he can score on any level and be a playmaker for others. His ability to generate offense has raised his draft stock and will draw interest from numerous teams. Let’s dive into the best fits for Kam Jones among the teams currently owning first-round picks in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Best Fits For Kam Jones In The 2025 NBA Draft

Orlando Magic

If there is any team that needs what Jones provides on the court, it is the Orlando Magic. Specifically, the Magic have struggled to generate any offense outside of their two stars, Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner. Additionally, Orlando has also struggled to put floor spacers next to Banchero and Wagner. They desperately need someone like Jones to help generate offense as a secondary ball-handler and to space the floor when playing next to the stars. Jones has shown this past season that he is capable of being an offensive engine for his team, which will be useful for the Magic. In previous years, Jones played in a more off-ball role for Marquette. In that role, Jones displayed the ability to be a shooting threat with excellent efficiency and volume. Undoubtedly, his offensive package will be of use to Orlando.

Jones, on the other hand, will significantly benefit from playing with the Magic. In particular, Orlando’s defensive personnel can help hide Jones and his defensive deficiencies. Given his athletic limitations, Jones can struggle to guard the perimeter against quicker guards. However, the Magic can consistently put excellent defenders around Jones to mitigate his issues. Another point to note, Jones will have opportunities with the team because of the Magic’s need for offense. Unquestionably, there is a clear fit between the two parties.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Another team that can use the services of Jones is the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Wolves will always need more shooting to surround Anthony Edwards and Jones can provide just that. Jones can easily slot into an off-ball role next to a guy like Edwards or Mike Conley. Minnesota can also use players like Jones who can create their own offense so their primary offensive pieces don’t have to create everything. Similar to Orlando, the Wolves have the personnel to hide Jones on defense. Offensively, Jones will get many easy looks from Minnesota’s stars. Jones to Minnesota is an obvious fit on both ends of the floor.

San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs, despite acquiring star guard De’Aaron Fox, does have a need for someone like Jones. The Spurs absolutely need more shooting around Victor Wembanyama and be able to space the floor for him. Jones and his shooting can help make Wembanyama’s job a little easier with the spacing he brings to the table. Furthermore, his shot-creation abilities for himself and others will also assist in making things easier for Wembanyama. For Jones, having Wembanyama serve as the back-line defense will help in hiding his defensive issues on the perimeter. In San Antonio, there is an easy fit for Jones and his skill set.
