NBA announces award finalists: Antetokounmpo, Gilgeous-Alexander, Jokic top three for MVP
There were no surprise names on the list, although that is not going to keep some players from feeling snubbed.

Timberwolves up at half despite:
– 3:4 Julius Randle AST-TO ratio
– 8 points on 9 shots for Anthony Edwards
They need that to even out, because asking for another 31 points on 16 shots from Jaden McDaniels and Naz Reid is unrealistic – 10:01 PM

Van Gundy joined forces with the team’s longtime trainer, Jasen Powell, to prevent Jokic from yanking the ball away in a bizarre interruption of Denver’s eventual Game 1 win. The visiting bench wasn’t issued a delay-of-game, despite Jokic’s protests. “I mean, my guys have gotta step it up. If we’re allowed to just grab the ball and stop plays from happening and it’s not a delay of game, what have we been doing all year?” Nuggets interim coach David Adelman said. “I was an assistant, so what was I doing all year? So if that is OK to do, and I guess that’s OK, then I guess we should start doing it. I’ve never seen that before, to be honest.” -via Denver Post / April 20, 2025

Q. What did you learn about your team tonight? Anthony Edwards: We got a great group of guys but it wasn’t tonight. I learned that in training camp, it just takes a minute for us to gel, it’s a new team so yeah it just took a minute for us to figure each other out and I feel like now, we just, we’re rolling. -via YouTube / April 20, 2025

Timberwolves defeat Lakers in Game 1 117-95 behind 25 points on 11-for-13 shooting from Jaden McDaniels. Anthony Edwards had 22 points on 8-for-22 shooting while Naz Reid added 23 points and two blocks off the bench. The Lakers were led by Luka Doncic with 37 points and eight rebounds while LeBron James had 19 points on 8-of-18 shooting. Wolves steal home-court advantage to go up 1-0 in the series. -via journal-topics.com / April 19, 2025
