LeBron James: ‘I just feel off rhythm these last three, four games’

December 3, 2024 by Hoops Hype

LeBron James shrugged. He rolled his eyes. He complained to the refs. He hung his head. There was no discretion Monday in Minnesota — everything you needed to know about the Lakers and their leading scorer was on display in big, bold letters. “It’s everything,” James said. “It’s the rhythm. I just feel off rhythm these last three, four games.”

New story: LeBron opened up his 22nd season saying he planned to play in all 82 games. With LeBron in the middle of a brutal shooting slump, JJ Redick said that plan may be revisited. “I don’t know that’s in the best interest of him and us” es.pn/3D8vOyM – 1:06 AM

The Lakers lose 109-80 in MIN after being thoroughly outplayed from the 2nd Q on. D-Lo 20p on 8-of-12 5a; AD 12p on 4-of-14 11r 5a; Rui 10p on 4-of-5 4r 2s; LeBron 10p on 4-of-16 (0-of-4 3s) 8r 4a 6tos. LAL falls to 12-9. MIA next on Wednesday. – 10:14 PM
Fred Katz @FredKatz
Most jarring stat in the league is LeBron’s on-offs. Coming into tonight, Lakers were 21 points per 100 possessions worse when he was in the game, per @cleantheglass. He’s a minus-28 tonight.
I’m not making any grandiose statements yet. He’s LeBron. But this is worth monitoring. – 10:12 PM
Dave McMenamin @mcten
The Lakers pull LeBron and AD down 94-69 in the 4th Q. – 10:00 PM
Kamenetzky Brothers @KamBrothers
Heading into the fourth quarter, LeBron has a minus-18 +/- and the other four Laker starters are a combined -20. This is as rough a game as LBJ has played in a long time, during perhaps the roughest stretches of his Laker career. AK – 9:50 PM
Dave McMenamin @mcten
Rough night for the marquee names here in Minny:
LeBron 3-for-14
Ant Edwards 3-for-13
Anthony Davis 4-for-14
The Wolves are up 76-62 late in the 3rd Q, with the biggest difference being team 3-point shooting.
MIN is 11-of-27; LAL is 5-of-18 – 9:40 PM
Mike Trudell @LakersReporter
Hachimura and Russell are a combined 11 for 14 towards 28 points, but LeBron and AD continue to struggle with efficiency tonight, now 7 for 28 collectively to combine for 17 points.
Lakers shooting 43.9% overall, and trail 76-62. – 9:38 PM
Dave McMenamin @mcten
The Lakers trail 56-44 at the half with a rough start for LeBron (2-for-10 with 3 turnovers). D’Angelo Russell has 16 pts on 6-for-8 shooting (4-of-4 from 3) against his former team – 9:05 PM
Mike Trudell @LakersReporter
Lakers trail 56-44 at the half, though they trimmed 5 points off the largest lead.
Russell hit his 4th triple of the half in the final seconds of the 2nd, towards 16 points to lead an offense that otherwise struggled (LeBron and AD were a combined 6 for 21). – 9:04 PM
Sam Quinn @SamQuinnCBS
LeBron going 0-for-17 on 3’s is whatever. He tends to be a bit streaky on jumpers. When he was younger his mechanics weren’t quite as tight. The 3’s come and go.
But if you’re not at least a little concerned about what’s happening in the paint, idk what to tell you. – 8:42 PM
Dave McMenamin @mcten
LeBron came into MIN missing his last 15 straight 3s since tying Kyle Korver for 7th on the all-time 3s list, including going 0-of-9 vs UTA yesterday. He missed his 1st attempt – 16 in a row. When asked about the slump pregame, JJ Redick said, “Hope he gets 9 more up tonight” – 8:29 PM
Dave McMenamin @mcten
Tonight is LeBron James’ 1,800 career game played between the regular season and playoffs (he has a few more including the play-in and the in-season tournament final that the league still hasn’t found a way to properly tally). Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is second with 1,797 – 8:22 PM
Mike Trudell @LakersReporter
Russell and Reddish both return tonight, while Austin Reaves remains out.
Russell will start alongside Knecht, Hachimura, LeBron and AD.
Jalen Hood-Schifino is also out. – 6:33 PM

More on this storyline

Meanwhile, LeBron himself didn’t confirm whether he thinks of changing his plans. “That’s a goal, but we’ll see,” James said about playing in all regular season games. “It’s something I ain’t discussing right now.” -via BasketNews / December 3, 2024
James finished the game with 10 points (4/16 FG, 0/4 3PT, 2/4 FT), 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 6 turnovers. Following the loss, the Lakers head coach, JJ Redick, questioned LeBron’s goal of playing in every single game this season. “I don’t know that’s in the best interest of him and us if he does that, but if he’s feeling well and feeling good, then he should play,” Redick said after the loss. “But we obviously want to manage that as best we can.” -via BasketNews / December 3, 2024
Tomer Azarly: LeBron James has shot under 45% from the field for 6 consecutive games. James has only done that 2 other times in his NBA career, both coming in his ROOKIE season over 20 years ago 🤯 -via Bluesky / December 3, 2024
