Coming off just their second loss of the season, Napheesa Collier returned to the lineup, leading the Lynx to an overtime victory.
On Friday night, the Minnesota Lynx, coming off just their second loss of the season, took on the Atlanta Dream. The matchup set up to be an entertaining one as the Lynx came in with the WNBA’s best road record while the Dream has the top record at home.
Napheesa Collier returned to the lineup after missing the Lynx’s previous two games and got right back to playing at an MVP level. Phee scored 15 points on 5-9 shooting, along with two assists, just in the first half.

Collier’s stellar play allowed the Lynx to take a sizeable first-half lead as they led by as many as 15 points in the second quarter. Bridget Carleton was also on fire, making all three of her 3-pointers in the first half.
The game would turn on a dime late in the second quarter as a 10-0 run for the Dream cut what was a 15-point Lynx lead to just five heading into halftime. The poor stretch of play would continue into the second half as the Dream opened the third quarter, scoring the first six points to take the lead.
Atlanta would lead by as many as six points in the third quarter and by seven points with just over three minutes left. The Lynx had their backs up against the wall, needing to find a run of stellar play to salvage the game.
Minnesota would do exactly that as a pair of layups from Courtney Williams and Kayla McBride cut the Dream’s lead to three. After a timeout and an Atlanta two-point basket, McBride hit a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to two.
With 21 seconds left, Collier drew a foul and hit both free throws, tying the score and sending the game into overtime.
The Lynx fell down by four points in the extra period before a pull-up jumpshot by Williams and a pair of makes from Collier gave Minnesota a two-point lead. The Lynx held that lead into the final minute. After a successful challenge by head coach Cheryl Reeve on a foul call that could have tied the game, Alanna Smith blocked a Jordin Canada at the rim, setting up a pair of McBride free throws to salt the game away.

The Lynx won by a final score of 96-92 in overtime, giving them a stellar 13-2 record. Collier was sensational yet again in her return, putting up 26 points, seven rebounds, six assists, two blocks, and one steal. Carleton shot the lights out with 14 points, including 4-4 from beyond the arc.
All six Dream players who played more than ten minutes scored in double-figures, with Brionna Jones leading the way with 18 points.
