Bully Ball big man, Julius Randle, will be back with the Timberwolves after another Western Conference Finals run.
After a tumultuous start to the season, Julius Randle became one of the main reasons as to why the Timberwolves made it as far in the playoffs as they did. We had no choice but to fall in love with Bully Ball Julius Randle, and now he is back for at least another two years. . ESPN’s Shams Charania drops another Wolves-centric bomb just two days after Naz Reid’s reported extension was announced.

Julius Randle declined his $30.9 million dollar player option for this upcoming season to ink a brand new three-year, $100 million dollar deal that includes a player option for the 2027-2028 season. This is a deal that makes sense for both sides as Randle gets longer term security after playing with the potential expiring deal hanging over his head the entire year.
Our good friend Jack Borman has the potential contract details below.
My back of the napkin math tells me that Randle’s 3-year deal worth $100M will look something like this, assuming 8% annual raise:
• 25-26 –> $30.8M
• 26-27 –> $33.3M
• 27-28 –> $35.9MRandle’s player option for this coming season is $30.9M, so not much room created.

The Timberwolves lock up their number two offensive option next to Anthony Edwards while paying a reasonable price for his services after a season where he caught fire late, helping the Wolves to reach the Western Conference Finals for a second consecutive year.
After Minnesota’s deep playoff run, it looks as though they are banking on continuity after making the surprising trade that shocked the NBA world a day before training camp a year ago. While the first part of the season was rough as they tried to smooth out the bumps in play, Minnesota hit their stride at the end of the year. They went 17-4 and secured the 6th seed in the playoffs.
Julius Randle was a huge part of that. His whole season of experience of figuring out how he best fits should pay dividends heading into next season. We all saw the value of continuity during the Timberwolves previous Western Conference Finals appearance in 2023-2024. It was year two of the Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert experience and it looks as Tim Connelly’s team is taking a similar approach with Randle and Gobert.

With this and the Naz Reid signing, it is important to note that Nickeil Alexander-Walker most likely looks to be the odd man out. He hits the open market after over two years with the Wolves. The way Minnesota’s cap sheet currently is, they will have roughly $5.1 million dollars left. NAW will be in the market for a contract significantly above that mark.
This will be something to monitor as NBA free agency opens in the coming days.
