Stephen Curry leaves game with hamstring strain, will not return
A standard recovery from a hamstring strain is at least seven days and usually more like 10.

Have to imagine there will be at least one missed game for Curry and probably more. Rule of thumb for me is at least a week and probably 2 if a guy has to leave with a muscle injury. Looks to be lower grade since he could still move pretty well. – 10:56 PM

There’s just one day of rest between each game from Game 1 through Game 5. After that, there’s a three-day break between Games 5 and 6. We’ll have to see the severity of a Stephen Curry’s hamstring strain. – 10:47 PM

Warriors held the Timberwolves to 31 first half points. They missed all 15 of their 3s. But Steph Curry left with a hamstring strain, upping the pressure on GSW — currently up 44-31 at halftime — to close this Game 1 road win with real likelihood Curry could miss time. – 10:43 PM

Naz Reid just checked out of the game and went immediately to the Wolves locker room and appeared to be favoring his left hamstring as well, just like Steph Curry earlier. – 10:38 PM

More on this storyline

Dalton Johnson: Asked Steph Curry how the Warriors are feeling after a seven-game series with one day off before Round 2: “Feeling good, we got through it. Emptied the tank in Game 7 like you’re supposed to, but it’s nice to actually keep a rhythm.” -via Bluesky / May 6, 2025

Stephen Curry, whose epic performance in the gold-medal game at the Paris Olympics last summer was a reminder that he was still truly great, had every reason to wonder if that would be the last meaningful game he might play in his career. “We’re still trying to do it,” Curry said. “So you can tell there’s such a care factor for every guy on this team that starts with me, Draymond, (Kevon) Looney, who has been here with us, and now obviously (with) Jimmy and his playoff experience. So I had to rely on that as long as this ride continues. You know you’re figuring out the chessboard in between the series, and sticking with it, and not letting go of the rope (while) being able to turn the page from one game to the next and meet the moment. It’s so much fun out here. -via New York Times / May 5, 2025
