Wizards open to discussing sign-and-trade deals for Malcolm Brogdon

July 8, 2025 by Hoops Hype

League sources say that the Wizards are open to sign-and-trade discussions to facilitate Malcolm Brogdon’s exit from Washington and a slew of teams have registered varying levels of interest in the 32-year-old. That list includes the Clippers, Suns and Lakers as well as the Warriors, Timberwolves, Pelicans, Kings and Bucks.

CP3, De’Anthony Melton and Malcolm Brogdon are my personal favorites, but I wrote about some free agency targets for the Suns weeks back, and some are still available to potentially fill those final 1-2 roster spots: bit.ly/4nqWEVJ – 2:38 PM

More on this storyline

Michael Scotto: If Bradley Beal agrees to a Suns buyout, Clippers may have interest but only have $5.3M of the non-tax MLE to use. Malcolm Brogdon and Chris Paul have also drawn free agency interest from LA. Clippers get John Collins on an expiring $26.58M deal as Norman Powell goes to the Heat -via Twitter @MikeAScotto / July 7, 2025
Jake Fischer: The Kings are also planning to meet with Malcolm Brogdon, per sources, among their other point guard options. Doesn’t have to be, but the Wizards are willing to help facilitate a sign-and-trade with Brogdon, sources say. -via Twitter @JakeLFischer / June 30, 2025
Kyrie Irving’s acceptance of a three-year, $119 million contract — taking a pay cut for this season after declining his $43 million player option — allowed the Mavericks to maintain access to the $5.7 million taxpayer midlevel exception. The plan for that slot is to sign a lead guard who can start while Irving recovers from his torn left ACL and transition to a key reserve role upon the nine-time All-Star’s return. Candidates include D’Angelo Russell, Malcolm Brogdon, Chris Paul and Tyus Jones, sources said. (The Mavs had interest in Dennis Schroder, but he is expected to command a significantly higher salary.) -via ESPN / June 30, 2025
