The Minnesota Timberwolves are expected to be among the more aggressive teams leading to the 2026 NBA trade deadline. Tim Connelly has a reputation for being one of the more active lead decision-makers throughout his tenures with the Wolves and the Denver Nuggets. Minnesota pursued a trade for Kevin Durant, for example, at last year’s trade deadline and again in the offseason.
“As I’m discussing the beginning of the idea of what the trade market may look like in the NBA, there’s some sellers you can identify,” said Brian Windhorst on Wednesday’s Hoop Collective Podcast. “But a team that is emerging as a buyer is the Wolves.
“Coming off two Conference Finals, high expectations, weak at the guard position for various reasons. A team that despite having a decent record, has underachieved because they’ve gone through a soft portion of the schedule.”
Minnesota attempted to address their long-term need at point guard beyond Mike Conley by acquiring Rob Dillingham at the 2024 NBA draft when they sent a future first round pick and a pick swap to the San Antonio Spurs.
The Wolves don’t currently have a tradeable first round pick.
