Big Ten Opponents Announced for Gopher Men and Women Basketball

Both Gophers teams will see Wisconsin at home and in Madison

It seems like the 2024-25 basktball season just ended a few weeks ago—but already the gear up for the 2025-26 season is well underway. The Big Ten officially announced the conference opponents for each men’s and women’s basketball team earlier this week. Here is who the Minnesota Golden Gophers will face and where next season.

Gopher Men:

New head coach Niko Medved and his Minnesota squad will play three of the 17 other Big Ten teams both at home and on the road in their 20 game Big Ten regular season stale next season. Joining Minnesota’s geographic rival in Wisconsin, it will be the Northwestern Wildcats and Indiana Hoosiers that will both head to The Barn and Minnesota will return with trips to Evanston and Bloomington.

The rest of Minnesota’s home opponents are: Iowa Hawkeyes, Maryland Terrapins, Michigan State Spartans, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, UCLA Bruins and USC Trojans.

Besides trips to Madison, Evanston, and Bloomington, the Gophers will also take road trips to: Illinois Fighting Illini, Michigan Wolverines, Ohio State Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions, Purdue Boilermakers, Oregon Ducks and Washington Huskies.

The schedule is nearly a flip of the 2024-25 one. Instead of a California trip, the Gophers will make their first Pacific Northwest trip to Oregon and Washington. This season the Gophers played Michigan State, Penn State and Wisconsin both home and away, and will now split up with the Spartans coming back here and the Gophers headed to Happy Valley.

Gopher Women:

The Gopher women will play an 18-game Big Ten schedule once again, playing 16 of the 17 other conference teams once, and playing one team twice, That team is Minnesota’s linked rival and thus the Gophers and Wisconsin Badgers will play one game both in Minneapolis and Madison.

The rest of the home schedule is a flip of the 2024-25 road schedule and includes hosting: Maryland Terrapins, Michigan State Spartans, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Northwestern Wildcats, Ohio State Buckeyes, Purdue Boilermakers, UCLA Bruins, and the USC Trojans.

Similarly the 2025-26 road schedule is a flip of the 24-25 home schedule and will see the Gophers making road trips to: Illinois Fighting Illini, Indiana Hoosiers, Iowa Hawkeyes, Michigan Wolverines, Oregon Ducks, Penn State Nittany Lions, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, and Washington Huskies.

Non conference schedules for both teams will be announced later this summer.
