Welcome to “Come And See How Good I Look”, the new TDG fashion column where we’ll dissect new alternate uniforms, weekly uniform combinations, and anything else that seems sartorial.

Apologies for the hiatus following Miami of Ohio, but I’d expect the ALL MAROOOOOOOON look to reappear at least once a season. It will get it’s ranking in due time. Also, I considered reranking the Ohio State blackout uniforms but chose not to. I’m ok if they don’t come back in this current iteration.

The Minnesota Gophers broke out my favorite helmets and a clean white look on the road against the Colorado Buffaloes. Before we get started, let’s recap how the rankings work:

⭐ I immediately regret this decision! This is for when things go horribly wrong. Like Michigan State green highlighter uniform wrong. I pray we never have to use this ranking or I’m going to find myself in a glass case of emotion.

⭐⭐ Hey, where’d you get those clothes, the toilet store? I don’t care if you’re polite and rarely late, this isn’t good enough.

⭐⭐⭐ I’m kind of big deal. These uniforms smell of rich mahogany and are certainly worth keeping around.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hey everyone! Come and see how good I look! These are uniforms so fine they make Sinatra look like a hobo.

With that out of the way, it’s time to take a look back at this past weekend’s threads.

Let’s break down how I think this combo scored.

Helmet

Let’s be clear, I absolutely LOVE the gold mirror finish helmets. There’s pretty much no way for me to ever rank them lower than 4 stars, though I believe the gray block M logos they used two years back with the anthracite uniforms would probably have brought the helmet down to 3 stars for one week. In any case, I am very pleased with this week’s edition. I like when the Gophers mix in the numbers on one side of the helmet, so that’s automatically a win. I would have preferred maroon numbering and logos, but the white still looked good in my opinion. And frankly, you couldn’t have chosen a better helmet for the gorgeous weather the Gophers played under.

Helmet Grade:

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hey everyone! Come and see how good I look! I would be happy to see the Gophers wear this again, no question.

Uniform

I know many would have preferred gold pants. Personally, I don’t think the traditional gold pants look quite as good with the gold mirror finish helmets. And that argument aside, the all whites looked :FIRE: on a bright sunny day. You know where this is going.

Uniform Grade:

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hey everyone! Come and see how good I look! While these uniforms aren’t a favorite of mine, I feel bad using the toilet store ranking. But at least based on the teaser video I just can’t go with “I’m kind of a big deal.”

Overall

It’s a straight “⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hey everyone! Come and see how good I look! week here at TDG. Something tells me people are going to disagree with me on my rankings though.
