ESPN Broadcast Criticized For Being Obsessed With Quarterback’s Fiancee

June 27, 2024 by The Spun

Katie Miller

ESPN.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers notched a win over Bowling Green in the Quick Lane Bowl today, but the real story – at least if you listened to the broadcast – was that Minnesota quarterback Cole Kramer is marrying Katie Miller.

ESPN’s broadcast of the game was an odd one as the cameras panned to the future Mrs. Kramer on numerous occasions whenever the announcers mentioned the Minnesota QB. And on what appeared to be many, many occasions, the announcers reiterated that the two of them are getting married.

With the way the announcers were talking about Kramer and Miller so much, you’d think that this was a movie where Miller would break off the engagement if Kramer didn’t win.

By the end of the game, fans were so fed up with the announcers talking about Kramer and Miller getting married that some thought it was all they wanted to talk about:

one thing about the Quicken Lane Bowl is you’re gonna know Cole Kramer and Katie Miller are getting married.

If not for the Cole-Katie storyline, not sure what these ESPN announcers would talk about this game! We get it, they are getting married!!! #Gophers pic.twitter.com/UpQAgB1ERY

Jeez just change the name of the game to the Katie Miller Bowl already #quicklanebowl

All jokes aside, it was a good game from Cole Kramer, who was making his first start for the team. He threw for two touchdowns and ran in a third while running back Darius Taylor had 208 rushing yards on the day.

Minnesota went on to win the game 30-24.
