A former Big 10 player has been diagnosed with cancer for the sixth time.
Minnesota placeholder Casey O’Brien has beaten the disease five times already and revealed his diagnosis while speaking with Randy Shaver of KARE 11.
“I had a relapse in my right lung from the osteosarcoma that I’ve been through five times before,” O’Brien said.
“I’ve been through this stuff five times already and I know it’s pesky and that it’s not gonna let me get off the hook easy.”
O’Brien played with the Golden Gophers from 2017-20. He played in two games throughout that time, both of which came during the 2019 season.
O’Brien was first diagnosed with cancer when he was 13 and has been an inspiration to numerous people throughout his life.
