
It’s The Gophers 4th Gold competing as Team USA
Next fall when the Minnesota Golden Gophers Dance team hits the field at Huntington Bank Stadium during a timeout they won’t be referred to only as NCAA Champions. The Gopher dance team was selected to compete as Team USA at the International Cheer Union World Championships in Orlando this week and after another set of stunning performances they can now be referred to as World Champions. The Gophers won the gold medal in the pom category and finished second in jazz behind Japan to win silver.
The 2025 competition marked the third time Minnesota represented the US National Team as it also did so in 2010 and 2014. With the gold medal in 2025, it marks the fourth time the Gophers have won gold and the third time coming home with a silver medal. Minnesota also previously won gold in the Pom in 2014 and silver in Jazz. In 2010, the Gophers took home gold medals in both Jazz and Freestyle Division (Pom) in 2010 and silver in Hip Hop.
The Gophers won the gold over Japan and Mexico in the Pom Category. Their gold medal winning performance is below:
