Turner went to high school in Auburndale, FL, a city about half way between Orlando and Tampa. He took a scholarship offer from Central Arkansas and had an inconsistent freshman season through the end of January, before seeing an impresive turnaround.
At the begining of February, Turner started playing more consistent minutes, became a regular starter (partly due to injuries for the Wolves) and Turner went from averaging abound 4 points per game to averaging 19.5 over his last 10 games of the season. He had 24 points and 6 rebounds in their season finale at Lipscomb and had 37 and 11 in their first round ASUN game against Stetson.
Turner’s dramatic turnaround, surely made him an attractive big man in the portal and he will come to Minnesota where he will be competing with Robert Vaihola for minutes at center.
The fact that Turner is coming in as a sophomore is great for roster balance (assuming he will stick around) and the hope is that Medved and staff are able to continue developing Turner over the next couple of seasons.
