Reynolds gives Medved 8 players for next year
Niko Medved landed an athletic and lengthy perimeter player in the portal over the weekend.
“Gophers Add Northern Colorado SG Langston Reynolds”
Langston Reynolds averaged 16 points, six rebounds, and 3.4 assists a game last year. Today he committed to Minnesota after three years at Northern Colorado. He will be a senior. @Minnesota247 https://t.co/JpxxcXImUB

This is going to be one of the better portal additions for next year’s roster.

Reynolds has a lot going for him and Gopher fans should be very excited about this pickup.
Out of high school in Denver, Reynolds chose Northern Colorado over a host of other mid-major offers. He played most of the games over his first two seasons for the Bears, starting three games total and averaged just over 6 points per game as a sophomore. But he put the work in and saw dramatic improvements as a junior.
This past season Reynolds averaged 16.1 points per game along with 5.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists. His three-point shooting percentage went up from 21% to 40.9%. But he really only attempted 44 shots from three because he is very adept at getting into the paint and attacking the rim.
He ranked in the top 100 nationally in effective FG% and true shot percentage by getting to the rim and finishing on a regular basis. He got to the free throw line 157 times where he only made 67%.
Reynolds was a first-team All-Big Sky honoree and his Northern Colorado squad finished as the top seed in the Big Sky Tournament but they fell to Montana in the championship game.
The Star Tribune’s Marcus Fuller compared Reynolds to former Gopher, Vincent Grier. This feels like an appropriate comparison. He should give Medved some versatility on the perimeter and a player with a different skill-set than the other players currently on the roster.
It is very possible that Reynolds is coming to the Gophers and will be starting. At the very least he will be a key contributor, and I suspsect he’ll be a fan-favorite.
