This makes the 8th addition to the roster via the portal and Niko Medved has 11 scholarship players on the roster. Let’s meet Chance Stephens.

Out of high school in California, Stephens had a number of mid-major offers. He originally committed to Rhode Island before decommitting and eventually landing at Loyola Marymount. Stephens spent one season with the Lions where he played 17 min per game, averaging six points and shot 37% from three. That freshman season was enough for Maryland to offer and drag Stephens through the portal out to College Park.
His first season at Maryland was spent recovering from injury and he was able to redshirt. This past year he was healthy enough to play but did not earn a lot of playing time off the Terp’s bench. He played in just seven games, his last appearance being in December against Ohio State.
Stephens feels like a depth player who may earn more minutes as a shooter. He still has two years of eligibility remaining.
