Minnesota Golden Gophers Weekend Scores and Recap

It was a busy weekend for the Gophers

In case you couldn’t keep up with all the Minnesota Golden Gophers action this weekend—and how could you with just so much going on, here’s a final scoreboard and short blurb on the results.

Friday February 28th

Indoor Track @ Big Ten Championships, Indianapolis

The big winner of the weekend for the Gophers was redshirt sophomore Anthonett Nabwe who went back to back winning the Big Ten weight throw!

The Gophers finished 8th as a team and had the following podium performances:

1st. Anthonett Nabwe, Weight Throw 24.22m (79-5 1/2)

3rd. DMR (Isabelle Schmitz, Dyandra Gray, Zoie Dundon, Erin Reidy, 11:02.42)

5th. Maja Maunsbach, 60m Hurdles, 8.17

6th. Hadley Streit, Weight Throw, 21.32m (69-11 1/2)

6th. Alliyah McNeil, Long Jump, 6.18m (20-3 1/2)

6th. Kennedy Martinson, Pentathlon, 3,995 points

6th. Alliyah McNeil, High Jump, 1.80m (5-10 3/4)

7th. Isabelle Schmitz, 3000m, 9:14.13

8th. Lexy Berger, Pole Vault, 4.26m (13-11 3/4)

8th. Erin Reidy, Mile, 4:44.12

8th. Abigail Schaaffe, 600m, 1:35.57

8th. 4x400m Relay (Dyandra Gray, Abigail Schaaffe, Kitania Headley and Kendra Kelley)

Tennis vs Wisconsin

The Gophers were swept 4-0 by the Badgers in their Big Ten opener.

Softball vs North Dakota State— US Bank Stadium

The Gophers picked up a 3-1 win over the Bison. Junior Sydney Schwartz started in the circle and picked up the win for Minnesota. The right-hander went seven innings, giving up one run on four hits, allowing two walks and striking out two.

Men’s Swimming and Diving—Big Ten Championships

The Gophers finished 5th at the Big Ten Championships. The Gophers earned five podium finishes, four Big Ten honors, a medal finish.

Women’s Hockey vs Minnesota State

The Gophers defeated Minnesota State 6-1 in Game one of their best-of-three series. Ava Lindsay and Emma Kreisz each scored a pair of goals for Minnesota.

Softball vs Wagner

Minnesota picked up a 7-0 win over Wagner and had junior Presley Hosick and Freshman Natalie Susa combine to toss a no-hitter. Hosick started and went five innings and Susa finished off the last two.

Baseball @ Arizona State

Minnesota opened the three game series with a 7-6 win in ten innings at Arizona State. Minnesota came from behind trailing 6-5 headed into the final inning. In the top of the 9th Brayden Hellum hit a double and came around to score on an RBI triple from Parker Knoll to tie the game at 6. Then in the top of the 10th Josh Fitzgerald hit a solo home run to give the Gophers a 7-6 lead. The Sun Devils loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the 10th, but Eli Sundquist got out of the jam to pick up the win.

Men’s Hockey @ #15 Penn State

The Gophers fell 4-3 in OT in Game 1 of the series against the Nittany Lions.

Saturday March 1st

Indoor Track @ Big Ten Championships, Indianapolis 9 AM B1G+

Tennis vs North Dakota 10 AM

Minnesota swept the Fighting Hawks 4-0.

Men’s Basketball @ Nebraska

Minnesota picked up a huge 67-65 win in Lincoln. Brennan Rigsby hit a three pointer with just over three seconds left to give the Gophers the win.

Women’s Basketball @ #23 Michigan State

Minnesota lost 73-58 after being outscored 27-13 in the 4th quarter.

Women’s Hockey vs Minnesota State

Minnesota State forced a Game 3 in the series after a 5-4 win in Double OT.

Softball vs Miami, Ohio—US Bank Stadium

Minnesota beat the Redhawks for the second time this season. This time it took a walk-off grand slam from Jessa Snippes to give Minnesota a 9-6 win.

Tennis vs Boise State 3 PM

Minnesota made it 2-0 on the day by taking a 5-2 win over the Broncos.

Gymnastics vs Michigan/ Illinois @ Maryland

The Gophers picked up three more wins in the Big Ten defeating all three opponents on Saturday. #13 ranked Minnesota scored a 196.625 to take first place at the Big 4 meet on Saturday evening. No. 15 Michigan (196.300) placed second, Maryland third (196.125) and No. 24 Illinois (195.275) got fourth.

The Gophers finished the 2025 Big Ten conference slate with an 8-1 league record, their best B1G record since the 2020 season (9-1). They finished tied for second in the Big Ten with Michigan State. UCLA won the conference with a perfect 9-0 record.

Men’s Hockey @ #15 Penn State

Minnesota pulled out a 5-3 win over Penn State to become the Co-Big Ten Champions. A full recap is HERE.

Baseball @ Arizona State

Game two of the series went to the Gophers again with a 6-4 win. The Gophers trailed 4-1 headed into the 8th inning where they broke open the game scoring four runs on a Jake Perry grand slam. The Gophers added one more in the 9th and Tyler Hemmesch shut the door for the win.

Sunday March 2nd

Men’s Golf @ Colleton River Collegiate Bluffton, SC

The Gophers finished the first two rounds of competition in 16th place with a team score of 26-over par (314-298). Big Ten rival and host-Michigan State leads the team competition with a score of 2-under par. They finish with 18 more holes on Monday.

Softball vs NDSU/ St. Thomas

The Gophers split their final day of play at US Bank Stadium on Sunday. They took the second game off the Bison on the weekend winning 10-1 before falling to St. Thomas 8-6 in eight innings in the afternoon.

Baseball @ Arizona State

The Gophers could not pull off the sweep of the Sun Devils and fell 8-7.

Women’s Hockey vs Minnesota State

The Gophers decided they were done playing around and broke open Game 3 of the WCHA First Round series with three quick second period goals en route to a 6-2 win. Abbey Murphy picked up a pair of goals giving her 99 for her Gopher career. Minnesota advances to the WCHA Final Faceoff in Duluth next weekend where they will play #2 seed Ohio State at 4:30 Friday.
