The MAC’s leading scorer is coming to Minnesota.
The Gophers have acquired another ball handler for next year’s roster with Chansey Willis Jr, from Western Michigan.

It is ALWAYS a good idea to have multiple ball handlers on your roster and Niko Medved now appears to have at least two guys who can run the offense.
Chansey Willis Jr
Ht: 6’2”
Wt: 190
Hometown: Detroit, MI
Willis attended Detroit King High School where he was named Michigan’s 2022 Mr. Basketball. He spent one season at DII, Saginaw Valley State and then he spent his sophomore season at Henry Ford Junior College. At Henry Ford he averaged 20 points per game along with 6 rebounds and 7 assists. He had a few triple-doubles throughout that season.
He then transferred up to Western Michigan for the 2024-25 season and had a great year for the Broncos. Willis averaged 16.8 point, 4.3 rebounds, 5.8 assists per game and shot only 28% from three. He earned 2nd team All-MAC honors and the Broncos finished 9-9 in conference play.
It appears as though Willis, much like Langston Reynolds, is a versatile guard who can do more than just score. He finished 11th nationally in assist rate, led the MAC in assists per game and was the conference leading scorer.
It appears as though Willis will have just one season to play for Minnesota where he and Asuma will both be handling the ball and leading the Gopher offense in this upcoming season.
