The Gophers start the summer with a splash
Head coach P.J. Fleck and co. hosted their annual “Summer Splash” recruiting event this past weekend. There are always a handful of verbal commitments coming out of the weekend and this year’s was no exception, with Pennsylvania linebacker Angel Luciano the third to grab an oar.

Scouting Report
Luciano has prototypical size and athleticism for a linebacker, with the versatility to play multiple positions. He has lined up at mike linebacker, will linebacker, and edge rusher in his high school career, which should give Minnesota defensive coordinator Danny Collins plenty of ways with which to deploy him. At the next level, Luciano will need to add more strength and refine his technique, especially in shedding blocks and in pass coverage.
