Minnesota is 2-9 in Big Ten play this season with wins over Rutgers and Indiana. Minnesota currently sits in a thre-way tie for 14th in the Big Ten stadings with Nebraska and Indiana. Only the top 12 teams make the Big Ten Tournament, so the Gophers would need a sweep of upsets this weekend and then some help to keep their season going past Sunday.
Baseball:
The Gopher baseball team is at Rutgers this weekend for a three-game Big Ten series. Minnesota enters the weekend with an 18-17 overall record and a 5-10 record in Big Ten play. They have a seven game winning streak headed into Friday’s game with four regional non-conference wins over South Dakota State, St. Thomas, and North Dakota State split around a three-game sweep of Ohio State in Columbus last weekend.
Rutgers enters the weekend with a 17-20 overall record and a 6-9 conference record. This weekend could be huge for potential Big Ten Tournament qualification as the Top 12 teams at the end of the season make the Big Ten Tournament. The Scarlet Knights currently sit in the #12 spot with Minnesota, Nebraska, and Purdue just one game back.
First pitch is 5 PM Friday, 3 PM Saturday and Noon on Sunday, all streamed on B1G+.
