And so ends the ballad of Minnesotan Beef Stew.
The trades keep on coming for a Twins team with lots of players other teams have had their eyes on. Brock Stewart is the latest to go, heading to the Dodgers in exchange for outfielder James Outman.
Outman, 28, was the Dodgers’ starting centerfielder in the 2023 season where he put up a 116 wRC+ with outstanding defense and baserunning, accumulating 3.9 WAR. He’s since struggled to hit, getting demoted in both 2024 and 2025, though he has still managed a 135 wRC+ in AAA both seasons. At a minimum, Outman will be a cheap fourth outfielder in the Harrison Bader mold for the next several seasons with the potential to turn into an All-Star level hitter if he can make a bit more contact.
While Twins fans are surely disappointed to see their second high-leverage reliever traded in the past day, it makes a ton of sense to cash in on Stewart now. He has a lengthy injury history and is 33 years old.
The fire sale is officially on as the Twins have now traded Stewart, Jhoan Duran, Harrison Bader, and Chris Paddack all in the last 48 hours. Trades for Willi Castro and Danny Coulombe are inevitable as well, so the Twins have a good chance to restock their system for 2026 and beyond.
