Know Thine Enemy: Over the Monster
Sometimes as sports fans, we let frustrations over injuries, resentments about large contracts, and a lack of championship banners color our viewing experience/enjoyment far too much.
Case in point: Byron Buxton.

Ten years ago, Byron Buxton made his Minnesota Twins debut. Since that time, he has:
- Never been part of a championship club (never advancing past the ALCS, in fact)
- Been injured all the time (2 seasons of 100+ games played)
- Received a hefty chunk of change
But let’s put all that aside for a moment and simply marvel at how exciting of a player a fully-operational Buck truly is.
Rocco Baldelli has been flashing the green light when Buxton gains base path access—and Byron has been hitting the gas more often than not (7 SB)…

When #25 isn’t flashing the footwork, he’s loosening up the leather out in center…

Yes, he is still susceptible to those pesky breaking balls in the dirt (perhaps hanging out with Michael Cuddyer too much?!), but when he gets a mistake pitch it often travels to any of the three LF decks of Target Field…

Whether from a stadium seat or my living room recliner, it has been a joy to watch Buxton once again be able to showcase his full talent acumen on the diamond.
One thing Buck hasn’t accomplished in his career: Hitting one out of Fenway Park. Perhaps he can change that today and send one over the Monster to help MN win the series!
