The Minnesota Twins head to West Sacramento to take on the A’s
The Minnesota Twins are coming off two lost series, the last being some of the most exciting baseball of the season.
Now from one makeshift stadium to the next, the Twins head to West Sacramento to play the A’s. The A’s are playing in Sutter Health Park for three seasons. The Stadium seats 14,014 fans. Two series ago, the Twins were boiling in the heat outdoors in Tampa, playing the Rays at George M. Steinbrenner Field, also a temporary location for the Rays as their stadium is under repair after hurricane damage.

Monday’s pitching matchup is a pair of righties, Joe Ryan is coming off a 6-inning game of one run baseball against the Rays last week. In over 12 1⁄3 innings pitched against the A’s, Ryan is 1-0 with a 3.65 ERA.
Luis Severino is getting into mid-season form as well. He’s only allowed three runs over his last three starts. In each of those games he pitched six innings. His record is 1-4, but that doesn’t tell even half the story. A faulty bullpen has let him down at times. In his career versus the Twins, the Twins have his number though. He’s 0-2 with a 7.71 ERA vs the Twins in three appearances. In Two of those games, one in 2018 and one in 2024, he got the losses. He spent time with the Mets and Yankees before the A’s.
Former Twin Brent Rooker is having another good season. He has 13 HR, 31 RBI and a BA of .287 leading into this series, but he does have 61 strikeouts in 60 games played. Rooker made his debut with the Twins in 2020. In 2021 he hit 9 HR in 58 games played, but only managed a .201 batting average. He then spent time in San Diego and Kansas City before heading to Oakland. Last season he managed a career-best year with his most AB in 546, and he hit 39 home runs with a batting average seven points under .300 and .293. He did strike out a ton though, 177 times.
As we head into the 4-game series against the AL West basement dwellers, here’s a look at the standings.
