The Twins and Rangers are both hoping the rain doesn’t delay their Thursday early afternoon matchup at Target Field. Both are heading to Texas after the game. The rubber match is the third game in the series after a blowout victory for the Rangers on Monday’s Prince night and a Tuesday night that consisted of the second-longest home run in the MLB this year. Byron Buxton sent one into orbit, hitting it 479 feet. Mike Trout has the longest homer of the year at 484 feet. Let’s watch it one more time.

For the Rangers, right-hander Patrick Corbin takes the mound. For the Twins, it’s RHP Bailey Ober. Corbin (3-5, 3.52) is on a four-start winless streak, Ober (3-2, 3.78) has not won a game in six starts. Corbin has faced the Twins three times in his career, going 1-2 with a 7.00 ERA. Ober has also faced the Rangers three times, going 1-0 with a 5.40 ERA.
HIP, HIP, Gone!
Overnight, the Twins dished Jorge Alcala to the Red Sox in exchange for 21-year-old prospect Andy Lugo. While Alcala’s numbers don’t show it, he’s had some successful outings and his velocity is up this year, but on paper, he has an 8.88 ERA in 22 games in 2025. He was with the Twins for seven seasons

It’s like someone in the front office just doesn’t like my HIP! HIP! JORGE!! chants. First Polanco, now Alcala.
As for Andy Lugo, he’s an IF/OF prospect who can play many infield positions. In high-A play this year, he is batting .279 and has an OPS of .740, 4 HR, 4 SB, 20 RBI, 11 2B.
And if you don’t remember anything about him, you likely won’t forget this. Check out this bat flip from him earlier this season.
