The Twins got behind big early, clawed their way back, but lost anyway.
Chris Paddack got off to a good start in the first two innings, but trouble followed in the 3rd. Two singles and an error by Paddack loaded the bases for the Mariners. Then, Julio Rodriguez hit a sac fly to bring the first run in. Cal Raleigh hit a single, then after a walk, Luke Raley was hit by a pitch for an RBI. Former Twin Donovan Solano capped the inning off with a 2-run single to give the Mariners a 5-0 lead.
Once again the Twins lineup was forced to play from a massive deficit. Kody Clemens hit his 8th homer of the season, a solo shot, in the bottom of the 3rd to start chipping away at it. Then, in the 4th, Trevor Larnach doubled and Brooks Lee singled to drive him home. A single and a walk loaded the bases for Ty France, who unfortunately grounded into a (run scoring) double play. Clemens walked, setting up Ryan Jeffers to tie the game with a 2-run double into the left field corner.
That would be it for the Twins offense today, though, as they stranded Matt Wallner at 3rd in the 6th, and only had one other base runner the rest of the game.
In the top of the 9th, Jhoan Duran came in to try to keep the game tied but could not do so. Jorge Polanco was hit by pitch (pinch ran for by Dylan Moore), then a single by Cole Young moved him to 3rd. Duran then hit J.P. Crawford to load the bases, and Julio Rodriguez hit a sac fly to give the Mariners a 6-5 lead, our final score.
Pain.
