Joe Ryan was great, but the Twins lineup could not hit any Marlins pitching.
It was another great start from Twins ace Joe Ryan. He went 7 innings, giving up just 1 run and 5 hits, striking out 4. The one blemish today was a solo homer by Kyle Stowers in the 2nd inning. After that, Ryan sat down the next 13 Marlins batters, giving up just a single to Xavier Edwards in the 6th. In the bottom of the 7th, he gave up a couple singles but worked out of the inning unscathed, turning the game over to the Twins bullpen.
As for the Twins offense, it was slim pickings all evening. A double by Royce Lewis in the 3rd led to nothing. Then nothing until the 7th, where a single and walk created a rally that was quickly ended by Edward Cabrera. He went 7 innings, giving up just 2 hits, a walk, and striking out 6.
In the 8th the Marlins tacked on an insurance run against Louie Varland, thanks to a triple by Jesus Sanchez and a single by Nick Fortes.
Ronny Henriquez got the clean 1-2-3 save in the 9th, giving us our 0-2 final score. That’s back to back scoreless games for the Twins.
