If you can throw a ball 90 mph, the Twins might be giving you a call
The Twins bounced back this week, taking advantage of a weak A’s team, winning three out of four, before falling victim to a hot George Springer and only managing to win one game in the weekend series against the Jays. Still, the big news this week was the sudden depletion of the Twins rotation, as both Pablo Lopez and Zebby Matthews hit the IL. Lopez had the more serious news, as he’ll be out for 8-12 weeks, dealing with a Grade 2 major teres strain. Not much has changed in the landscape of the AL Central, as the Tigers are still the best team and now sit 7.0 games ahead of the Twins.

In the World of Baseball:
- Detroit is still atop the AL with a 43-24 record, 2.5 games clear of the 2nd place Yankees, and surprisingly, the Twins are the lone AL Central representative in the Wild Card, tied with the Rays and Jays. The Mets are now alone atop the NL, with a 42-24 record, with the Cubs not 1.5 games back.
- Looking at the other end of the standings, the Colorado Rockies are well on pace to smash the White Sox record for losses in a season in the modern era, and if this continues, they would finish with the worst loss percentage in the Modern Era. The Philadelphia Athletics hold the record with a .235 winning percentage – the Rockies currently have a .185 winning percentage.
