According to MLB reporter Francys Romero, the Minnesota Twins have come to terms with Yandro Hernández that includes an $800,000 bonus. He’s an 18-year-old outfielder who happens to be the top Cuban propsect. Per Romero, several teams including the San Francisco Giants were at a showcase for Hernández earlier this month. This comes a weeks after the Twins signed international prospects Daiber De Los Santos and Eduardo Beltre.
Cuban OF and switch hitter Yandro Hernández (18) is in agreement with the Minnesota Twins, per sources.
Estimated bonus: $800,000. The deal will be official when he receives free agency in a few days.

Twins Land Top Cuban Prospect
Hernández recently left his native Cuba, which doesn’t allow residents to sign MLB teams due to the United States embargo on the Caribbean nation. His father, Stayler, played for the Cuban national team. The elder Hernández hit .297/.396/453 with 100 home runs from 2003-2021. Now, it’s his son is looking to make a name for himself in the major leagues.

Back in January, Romero noted that Hernández has advanced hitting skills. Hernández was the batting average leader (.437) and hits (37) in the last U-18 National tournament. He is years away from making his major league debut, but it’s exciting to know that Minnesota landed a player who is eager to start his professional career. Meanwhile, the Twins have four prospects in Ketih Law’s 2024 top-1oo prospects list.
Minnestoa’s fifth overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, Walker Jenkins, takes the top spot in the Twins organization, coming in at No. 15. Shortstop Brookes Lee is at No. 31 on Law’s list while outfielder Emmanuel Rodriguez came in at No. 47. The final member of the Twins is recently acquired Gabriel Gonzalez. The 20-year-old was part of the package that sent Jorge Polanco to the Seattle Mariners.
