
The Twins handily defeated the Orioles on the backs of homers from Buxton and Correa.
The Twins broke through in the 3rd inning, putting up a classic crooked number. After two singles, Byron Buxton hit an RBI double. Then, Ryan Jeffers drove in 2 with a single, and Carlos Correa blasted a 2-run homer to make it a 5-0 game.
In the top of the 4th, Ryan Mountcastle drove in the Orioles first and only run with a double against Twins starter Pablo Lopez.
In the bottom of the 7th, Byron Buxton broke the game open with a 3-run homer, his 8th of the year. A Ty France double and Carlos Correa single made it 9-1.
Pablo Lopez struck out 11 in 5 innings of work tonight. Danny Coulombe, Louie Varland, Cole Sands, and Jorge Alcala combined for 4 innings, 0 runs, and 6 strikeouts out of the bullpen.
In his return, Royce Lewis put the ball in play 4 times for no hits, but did reach on an error. Willi Castro returned with a hit and a walk in 4 plate appearances, scoring twice. The Twins will go for a series win tomorrow evening with Simeon Woods Richardson on the mound.
