1st Round Pick Deletes Team Posts – Chargers, Panthers Could Attempt Trade

July 17, 2024 by Last Word On Pro Football

Jordan Addison Trade

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison made headlines for all the wrong reasons, and recent social media activity implies he could be looking for a trade. Earlier in the week, the former first-round pick was arrested under suspicion of DUI. According to reports across the league, Addison was found asleep in a Rolls-Royce while blocking a road. The receiver was arrested and released following a DUI investigation. This isn’t Addison’s first off-field issue, as the wideout previously pled guilty to a misdemeanor speeding charge where he drove 140 in a 55-mile-per-hour zone.

Following the DUI arrest, the USC product took to Instagram and deleted all Vikings-related photos on his account. We’ve seen star athletes do this during contract and trade disputes, and seeing as Addison is ineligible for an extension, he must want a trade. Despite his off-field concerns, Addison has a promising rookie season with 70 receptions for 911 yards and 1o touchdowns on 108 targets. We know teams value talent more than morals (see: Watson, Deshaun) so if the Vikings are done with him, the Los Angeles Chargers or Carolina Panthers could take him in.

Chargers, Panthers Could Trade For Jordan Addison Following Instagram Drama

The Los Angeles Chargers need all the help they can get at the wide receiver position. After parting ways with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, Los Angeles must find somebody capable of catching the ball. Second-round pick Ladd McConkey has some potential, but the rest of the depth chart desperately needs some help. Justin Herbert is a phenomenal quarterback, but he can’t take down the Kansas City Chiefs all on his own.

Last year, the Chargers selected wide receiver Quentin Johnston over Addison. Now, they can right that wrong and bring a talented – albeit troubled – playmaking threat. Jordan Addison is an ideal trade target, as the USC product has a similar skillset to Keenan Allen. If utilized properly, he shouldn’t have too hard of a time adjusting to life in Los Angeles.

More Help For Bryce Young

Bryce Young had a rookie season to forget, but nobody could have succeeded in his environment. Armed with no reliable weapons outside of the aging Adam Thielen, Young ranked at or near the bottom of nearly every passing category. Determined to make life easier for the former first-overall pick, Carolina traded for Diontae Johnson and selected wide receiver Xavier Legette with their first-round pick. These are good first steps, but a Jordan Addison trade could provide some much-needed life to his passing attack.

Xavier Legette needed five years to break out in college, so he might need some time to adjust to life in the NFL. Jordan Addison already proved he can compete against the game’s top talent, so a trade could be just what Bryce Young needs. The trio of Addison, Johnson, and Thielen won’t remind anyone of the 2007 New England Patriots, but they will be good enough to give Young a legitimate shot to succeed. If he still can’t make it work, then Carolina should use their first-round pick in 2025 on the next potential face of the franchise.
