After giving defensive coordinator Brian Flores a contract extension, the Minnesota Vikings must think about their offense, which they could reportedly send wide receiver Jordan Addison to the 49ers in a trade. According to several reports, Addison is now being brought up in trade rumors once again, just after his trespassing charges were dropped. The wide receiver offers a lot of upside for an offense that wants to get younger, and Addison could be on the move if the Vikings are looking to ship him to a new team. It’s expected that San Francisco will have their eyes set on acquiring a big-name receiver via a trade or through free agency.
49ers, Vikings May Chatter About Possible Blockbuster Jordan Addison Trade
It’s no surprise that the 49ers are going to search for a new receiver. The team announced in a press conference that Brandon Aiyuk is done, and they could lose Jauan Jennings to a team that will probably offer him a better contract during the offseason. Quarterback Brock Purdy needs a fresh set of new weapons in the offensive aresenal and Addison could be a name to watch, who may join the receiver corps that is led by Ricky Pearsall and Kendrick Bourne.
The team struggled to find a replacement for Aiyuk for the entire 2025 campaign, so it’s not a surprise at all that the 49ers want to make a splash now that they have the chance. Meanwhile, Addison is entering his fourth-year of his rookie deal, and that could intrigue a lot of teams beyond the 49ers, given how flexible his contract is. If the Vikings don’t pick up his fifth-year option, here are some other possible fits.
Other Potential Destinations
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs are likely to acquire a receiver through free agency or a trade, just like the 49ers. The team is at risk of losing Rashee Rice once again due to suspension over his latest allegations against him. While the Chiefs have the depth, they can’t afford to have a void again their pass-catching unit. Tyquan Thornton established himself as an adequate weapon for Patrick Mahomes, so Addison could find his footing the same way.
Both receivers have the same size and ball techniques, so this potential duo could be something exciting to watch. Xavier Worthy needs all of the help he can get, so as the team is getting younger with Jalen Royals, acquiring Addison would be the right temporary move.
Los Angeles Chargers
Meanwhile, the Chargers need a huge reset in their receiver unit. After signing Keenan Allen this past offseason, the team saw a few bright spots, but he was never going to be the long-term fix. Addison adds more stability, which is something that Ladd McConkey needs as he’s the standout in this group. Los Angeles must figure out what it wants to do with Quentin Johnston, as it could release him during the offseason.
Addison and McConkey could be a nice pair as Justin Herbert needs another pair of hands to thrive again in this offense.
Dallas Cowboys
While the Dallas Cowboys will extend George Pickens, they need to address the wideout depth issue. Jalen Tolbert is slated to leave the team, which means they need to find a replacement. If Jerry Jones wants to be aggressive, he should try to push for Addison. Dak Prescott is at a pivotal point in his career, and he isn’t going to get any younger.
Why not get Addison to pair with CeeDee Lamb and Pickens? It sounds like a true dream team.
