Aaron Jones makes NFL Top 100 as 2025 rankings debut

Aaron Jones comes in at No. 98 on this year’s NFL Top 100 list as voted on by the players.

The Vikings signed former Packers running back Aaron Jones prior to the 2024 season to help reinforce a backfield that wasn’t all that stellar in 2023. While Jones was entering his age-29 season, the Vikings knew they were going to need his best — and a lot of it — if they were going to be successful last season following the injury to rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

What they got out of Jones in his first season with the Vikings was a career high in both single-season carries and rushing yards with 255 and 1,138, respectively. On top of that, Jones also chipped in another 408 receiving yards and two more scores through the air.

For his efforts, Jones made a return to the NFL Top 100 list of 2025, as voted on by the players, by coming in at No. 98.

Here’s what NFL.com analyst Bobby Kownack had to say about Jones and his ranking:

Put out to pasture by the Packers, Jones proved he’s still capable of a workhorse role in Minnesota. He logged the most carries of his career, leading to a personal best in single-season rushing yards. Far removed from losing a step, Jones was the Vikings’ rushing attack; no other ball-carrier reached 300 yards. Although Minnesota acquired Jordan Mason this offseason to muster a better 1-2 punch, Jones is still the mighty dangerous 1 in that combo.

The addition of Mason is surely a sign that the Vikings do not want Jones to push for a similar carry total in 2025, especially when he’ll be 31 by the end of the season. With a much-improved offensive line as well, it is almost assured that Jones will have a more efficient year with his opportunities, meaning a decreased workload hopefully won’t be all that detrimental to his yardage total by year’s end.

And heck, if the Vikings are successful once again in 2025, Jones may very well may find his way back on this list next year, but at an even higher placement.
