Breaking: Ravens Devastating Injury Could Lead to Massive Trade

September 29, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Even with a disastrous loss, the Baltimore Ravens will most likely be without Lamar Jackson due to a hamstring injury, and at 1-3, it’s never a good sign. This means Baltimore might be in the market for a quarterback, which could end up being Giants veteran Russell Wilson. According to the breaking news, as of this posting, the Ravens are awaiting updates on Jackson’s condition, but realistically, hamstring injuries take time to recover. If he ends up being out for a while, they can’t afford to rely on backup Cooper Rush to step up in this huge moment for his career.

While he did have some flashes during his tenure with the Cowboys, he isn’t a playoff signal-caller who can keep Baltimore afloat. After coming off a terrible preseason, the Ravens should target Wilson as a possible option to help the team continue moving forward as a capable roster that can win a game with Jackson. Originally selected in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft, the former ten-time Pro Bowler lost his starting job to rookie Jaxson Dart after failing to lead the New York Giants in the right direction. Wilson left the door open to mentor Dart as long as he’s there, but this doesn’t mean the Giants will keep him as they will probably use him as a potential trade candidate and garner some draft capital.

Baltimore probably won’t be the only NFL team that might keep an eye on Wilson, but these three teams may as well.

Potential Other Suitors

Carolina Panthers

It’s safe to say the Carolina Panthers are still rebuilding, but if they continue to lose in blowouts, then they may have to switch quarterbacks at some point. It wouldn’t be the first time that the Panthers benched Bryce Young. While they did re-sign Andy Dalton to an extension, there’s no guarantee that he will emerge as their starter when they could always dip their hand in the trade market. Wilson can’t single-handedly save an NFL roster his age, but he could keep the Panthers in the mix for a chance in the postseason.

It won’t be a drastic trade, but an exciting one for Wilson as he could get one more chance before he decides to retire. This buys the Panthers a lot of time to draft their next quarterback next offseason if Young can’t meet their standards.

Minnesota Vikings

Meanwhile, the Vikings are hopeful that JJ McCarthy can return and remain healthy for the rest of the season. Carson Wentz showed a couple of flashes, but the end of the matchup against the Steelers just proved that he is no longer in his prime. With that, the Vikings should roll the dice and play it safe by trading for Wilson to give McCarthy some backup mentorship.

Cincinnati Bengals

Depending on how Jake Browning ends up, it’s likely the Cincinnati Bengals have to trade for another quarterback. Browning is coming off one of the worst games in Bengals history, so they must do something to save their season. With Joe Burrow not returning anytime soon, it’s fair for them to take a chance on Wilson via a trade.
