After months of speculation, the Vikings have decided to part ways with Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Vikings have informed Cook that he’s being released.
Cook’s base salary for the 2023 season was set at $10.4 million. Clearly, the Vikings didn’t want him on the roster at that price.
Schefter said the Broncos and Dolphins are expected to have interest in signing Cook now that he’s a free agent.
“The Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos are two of the teams that are expected to have an interest in signing running back Dalvin Cook once he officially is released, per sources. There likely will be others, but those two have been monitoring Cook for weeks,” Schefter added.

Last season, Cook had 1,173 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 264 carries. The Florida State product also had 39 receptions for 295 yards and two touchdowns.
With Cook no longer in Minnesota, the Vikings are expected to start Alexander Mattison at running back.
