Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings: Third Quarter Recap and Fourth Quarter Discussion

The good guys have a three-score lead

Get those fours up, everybody, because we’re heading to the final fifteen minutes of football for this evening with the Minnesota Vikings leading the Chicago Bears by a score of 20-3.

The Vikings started the second half with the ball, having won the opening coin toss and deferred to the second half. They put together what could charitably be described as an ugly possession and went three-and-out. The Bears then moved the ball a bit following a nice punt from Ryan Wright, but wound up punting the ball back to Minnesota on their first possession of the second half.

Unfortunately, Minnesota’s offense went three-and-out on their next possession as well with a couple of ugly passes by Sam Darnold thrown in and they punted the ball back to Chicago. The Bears then marched down the field and got all the way down to the Minnesota 1-yard line. But the Vikings’ defense stood up (with the help of a couple of penalties) and forced the Bears to settle for a 29-yard field goal from Cairo Santos to get the Bears on the board at 13-3.

Minnesota then put together their best drive of the second half, thanks largely to the running of Aaron Jones. He broke a number of nice runs to get the Vikings into the Chicago red zone, and got to finish things off with a 1-yard plunge to extend the Minnesota lead to 20-3 with under two minutes left in the quarter.

As we move to the fourth quarter of play, the Bears are in Minnesota territory again, looking at a 2nd-and-4 from the Minnesota 37-yard line.

We’ve got fifteen minutes left to go in this one, and the Vikings are up on the Bears by a score of 20-3. Can the purple hold on to get their seventh win in a row? Come join us and find out!
