On Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings ruled out star running back Dalvin Cook before a huge matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
Backup running back Alexander Mattison filled in nicely, racking up over 150 yards during Minnesota’s impressive 30-17 win. After a few days to recover, will Cook be good to go for next weekend’s matchup against the Cleveland Browns?
According to his recent comments, he’s still in wait-and-see mode. However, he’s doing everything he can to play.
“Attacking my rehab every day real hard,” he said via Vikings insider Courtney Cronin. “We’ll see how this thing plays out, but I’m extremely confident in what we’ve got going on in the training room and what they’re doing to get me back on the field. I’m extremely confident. We’ll see how this week plays out and how I respond.”

During his time with the media on Wednesday, reporters asked Cook when he knew he wouldn’t be able to play last weekend.
“I woke up and couldn’t play,” he said honestly. “In this league it’s either you’re going to play or you can’t. In this league, guys are flying around and doing all types of stuff and my game is to go be explosive. I can’t be out there if I’m not explosive or not able to help my team win a football game. I’d rather the next guy behind me come in and do an extremely good job and step up and do their job.”
Well, the next guy came in and torched the Seahawks defense. We’ll have to wait and see if it’s Cook or Mattison against the Browns on Sunday.
