The Minnesota Vikings took a two-game losing streak into their bye that included a stunning loss to the hapless Chicago Bears. Over the break, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell may have mulled a quarterback change after Josh Dobbs threw four interceptions in the loss to Chicago.
But on Wednesday, O’Connell decided to stay the course. He announced that Dobbs will start on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.
In three games for the Vikings, Dobbs has been a bit of a mixed bag. He’s 1-2 as a starter with a 66.4-percent completion rate and five touchdowns with five interceptions and 832 passing yards.
The Vikings will need him to play more like he played against the Saints and Falcons than he did against the Broncos and Bears though.

At 6-6 on the season, the Minnesota Vikings are still very much alive in the playoff race – thanks in no small part to Dobbs’ performance in Weeks 9 and 10.
But if the Vikings want to stay in the playoff hunt when January rolls around, they’re going to need to get much better production out of him over these next two winnable games against the Raiders and Bengals.
After that, they finish the season with three games against the Lions and Packers.
