Adam Thielen trade rumors are everywhere, as the Minnesota Vikings are actively looking for another wide receiver. Justin Jefferson is one of the game’s premier talents, and T.J. Hockenson is a reliable tight end, but this team could use more weapons with Jordan Addison serving a three-game suspension and Jalen Nailor dealing with a hand injury.
Thielen, of course, spent the vast majority of his career with the Minnesota Vikings before joining the Carolina Panthers in the 2023 offseason. While he isn’t the player he once was, the 35-year-old is still a reliable possession receiver and could help out a contender like Minnesota. While trade rumors are swirling, ESPN’s Dianna Russini made it clear that Adam Thielen isn’t going anywhere any time soon.

The Minnesota Vikings have been actively in the market for a veteran wide receiver, making calls around the league to see what fits. Adam Thielen is among the names on their list, I’m told nothing serious has been discussed at this time. https://t.co/fJsdoUUbGQ

REPORT: “Nothing Serious” To Adam Thielen Trade Talks
It’s easy to see why the Minnesota Vikings would be interested in an Adam Thielen trade. The team has one of the league’s best rosters and coaching staffs but possess a question mark at quarterback. J.J. McCarthy is a former first-round pick, but the Michigan product has yet to play a professional snap after missing his rookie year to injury. The team went 14-3 with journeyman Sam Darnold leading the offense, and they could go on a deep playoff run if McCarthy plays up to his potential.
The Panthers, meanwhile, could use Adam Thielen but would probably trade him for the right price. While you can’t have too many reliable receivers in today’s NFL, Carolina has several promising young receivers that could probably benefit from increased playing time. Rookie Tetairoa McMillan has impressed throughout training camp, and second-year receivers Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker both showed promise during the 2024 season. The Vikings won’t give up a Day 2 pick for a 35-year-old receiver in the last year of his contract, but perhaps the teams could work out a player swap trade to bring Adam Thielen back to Minnesota.
