The Minnesota Vikings surprised a lot of NFL fans this Friday, acquiring the No. 23 overall pick from the Houston Texans. NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah, however, wasn’t shocked by the move.
Jeremiah recently said on his podcast with Bucky Brooks that Minnesota will “make an effort” to trade up for North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye.
“I think Minnesota will put forth a strong effort to try and get up to get Drake Maye,” Jeremiah said. “I think they’ll make the effort. I just don’t know if one of those teams up there will get out.”
Now that Minnesota owns picks No. 11 and No. 23, it’s possible that another deal gets done before the draft comes around.
If the Vikings really want Maye as their next quarterback, they’ll need to start calling the Commanders, Patriots and Cardinals to see if they’re willing to trade down.

From a talent standpoint, the Vikings are loaded on offense. They have Jordan Addison, T.J. Hockenson, Aaron Jones and Justin Jefferson. All they really need is a playmaker at quarterback.
Maye would certainly elevate Minnesota’s ceiling. He finished his North Carolina career with 8,018 passing yards, 1,209 rushing yards, 63 touchdown passes and 16 interceptions.
