Great news for the Hall of Famer

When ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown show makes its way back onto the airwaves this September, a face very familiar to Minnesota Vikings fans will be back in the studio on a full-time basis after a scary health diagnosis last year.

Andrew Marchand of The Athletic is reporting that Hall of Famer Randy Moss will be returning to his spot behind the desk this coming season.

“Randy’s return on Super Bowl Sunday was an emotional lift — not just for our team but for the entire football community — and knowing he will resume his full Sunday NFL Countdown schedule, beginning in Week 1, has been the highlight of the offseason,” ESPN said in a statement to The Athletic.

Back in December, Moss revealed that doctors had found cancer in his bile duct and that he had spent nearly a week in the hospital receiving treatment. He also revealed that he would be going radiation and chemotherapy treatments, but now he has progressed enough in his recovery to return for his tenth season behind the Sunday NFL Countdown desk.

Moss’ cancer battle caused him to miss the final few weeks of the regular season and most of the postseason on ESPN, but he rejoined the rest of the crew for the Super Bowl in New Orleans in February.

This is pretty outstanding news for Randy Moss and all of those who have surrounded him and helped him through his cancer treatments and recovery. Here’s hoping that he’s all the way out of the woods on this one and will be able to get back to his normal routine for the long term.
