Jayden Daniels will be one of the first players taken in the 2024 NFL Draft on Thursday, potentially coming off the board as early as No. 2 overall.
The LSU star and 2023 Heisman Trophy winner has been the most popular projected pick of the Washington Commanders for much of the draft process.
Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported Wednesday that Daniels is “cool” with going to Washington, but his preference would be to play for one of two other organizations.
“Since the visit, league sources have said Daniels has told people in his ‘dream world’ he could reunite with Las Vegas Raiders coach Antonio Pierce, who was an assistant coach at Arizona State during Daniels’ time with the Sun Devils, or play under Kevin O’Connell in Minnesota,” Russini wrote.
Commanders fans might be worried after reading that, especially following the reports that he and his representation were not enthralled by Washington hosting multiple top quarterback prospects on the same visit to Topgolf.
However, Russini assuaged some of their fears by saying she thinks Daniels and the Commanders “will get past this bogey” (pun seemingly intended) and expects the 23-year-old dual threat to be the choice at No. 2 on Thursday.
The 2024 NFL Draft will begin at 8 p.m. ET tomorrow night from Detroit and air on ABC, ESPN and NFL Network.
