Standard issue acknowledgement of an incident. Original story below.
Remember not that long ago when I was talking about how nice and quiet the offseason had been for the Minnesota Vikings?
Yeah, it appears that I went and jinxed it.
The Los Angeles Daily News is reporting that wide receiver Jordan Addison was arrested on Friday night near LAX on suspicion of drunk driving. He was arrested late on Friday night and released in the early hours of Saturday morning after a DUI investigation was completed.
According to the report, the California Highway Patrol was dispatched after a call about a disabled vehicle blocking westbound lanes on a freeway. When police arrived, they found a white Rolls Royce blocking the lane with Addison asleep behind the wheel.
This is the second straight offseason that has seen Addison receive a significant citation just ahead of Training Camp. Almost a year ago, he was pulled over in the Minneapolis area in a Lamborghini that had been clocked at around 140 miles an hour. He wound up pleading guilty to a misdemeanor speeding charge and paid around $700 in fines.
Addison’s arrest for suspicion of drunk driving comes a little more than a week after a crash involving a drunk driver took the life of Addison’s teammate, cornerback Khyree Jackson. The timing of this is something that, honestly, I can’t wrap my head around. Addison ought to know better, particularly in light of what happened with Jackson, but apparently chose to get behind the wheel while inebriated anyway.
The team has not yet released any sort of statement about the incident, but I can imagine that Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and Kevin O’Connell aren’t exactly thrilled about it.
As more news comes in on this story, we will bring it to you as we’re able.
Once again, wide receiver Jordan Addison was arrested in Los Angeles late on Friday night and cited for suspicion of drunk driving.
