After spending the last two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, wide receiver Jakobi Meyers officially requests a trade from the team as he’s entering a new contract. According to the breaking news, the Meyers is looking to move on from the Raiders since he’s more than likely not receiving a new deal as he’s entering the final year of his current contract. Originally selected as an undrafted rookie in 2019, the former NC State product spent the first three seasons with the New England Patriots, looking to become a capable receiver, recording 67 catches for 804 receiving yards and six touchdowns. However, after his lateral pass attempt to running back Rhamondre Stevenson, most likely put icing on the cake and led to the Raiders winning the match against them in a walk-off touchdown pass.
Meyers intrigued the Raiders either way and signed a three-year contract to be somewhat the main contributor to the offense. After being in the ballpark of almost 1,000 yards receiving, especially recording 87 receptions for 1,027 yards, it’s no wonder that he’s requesting a trade since he’s looking to be valued. Despite making it known that he wants to stay in Las Vegas, things can change once money is involved and a player wants the top contract, which is something he wants. Even though he had to deal with mediocre quarterbacks for the past few seasons in Las Vegas, it didn’t stop him from being a reliable weapon.
Other than his age, here are five teams that could immediately take a chance on him, even if it’s for a year.

Shocking: Former Patriot Jakobi Meyers Requests Trade; 5 Potential Fits
Next Possible Teams
New England Patriots
No one should rule out the idea of a reunion, given the production he was able to put up with the Raiders. The Patriots have a better regime in place to allow Meyers to find his role in this offense. After signing Stefon Diggs and Mack Hollins, the team is looking for consistent playmakers for quarterback Drake Maye. This means even if they have one of the deepest receiver units, not all of them are making the roster, which could leave room for Meyers to join Diggs, Hollins, and maybe Kendrick Bourne if he makes the cut as the four frontrunners.
Dallas Cowboys
Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys could be in the market for a receiver right before the 2025 regular season. After losing Jonathan Mingo, the Cowboys should be on the hunt for a temporary receiver like Meyers in his final deal to create one of the most dangerous aerial attacks for Dak Prescott between him, CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. Meyers won’t be Amari Cooper 2.0, but it’s possible that he could change the trajectory of this offense to stretch the field.
Los Angeles Chargers
Even after bringing back Keenan Allen, the Chargers should be in the market for a long-term receiver. 2024 draft pick Ladd McConkey is turning out to be special for Justin Herbert’s offense, and they should continue on that trend. KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Tre Harris are unproven, so Meyers joining this receiver core group should strengthen the pass game for this offense.
Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings are in dire need of a wide receiver. After losing Jordan Addison due to a suspension, the team is left with WR1 Justin Jefferson and Jalen Nailor nursing an injury. There is room for improvement as Tai Felton is still developing, so Meyers could be easily the WR2 for this unit.
