Thursday Update On Vikings Running Back Dalvin Cook

September 24, 2021 by The Spun Leave a Comment

Dalvin Cook runs out onto the field.

The Minnesota Vikings are going to try and do everything they can to avoid an 0-3 start to the season this Sunday versus the Cleveland Browns. Unfortunately, they may have to try and do so without star running back Dalvin Cook.

Cook missed practice on Thursday. It’s the second straight day he hadn’t been able to practice. He’s dealing with an ankle injury.

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer told reporters on Wednesday that they are planning on playing Cook this Sunday. It’s unclear if that’s still the plan.

“At this stage, it’s time to get some wins,” Zimmer said, via the Star Tribune. “Dalvin’s a tough guy. If he can’t play, there’s a reason why he’s not playing. But he makes us go, so we’re going to continue to play him.”

We will have to wait until Sunday to find out whether or not Cook will be able to give it a go.

Minnesota is desperate for a win at this point. If Dalvin Cook can’t give it a go, the Vikings are going to have a tough time beating Cleveland.

Cook, who’s dealt with the injury bug during his professional career, exited the Vikings-Cardinals game in Week 2 twice. He suffered a stinger early on and then left because of an ankle injury later in the game.

Per Zimmer, Cook is probably going to try and give it a go this Sunday. But it sounds like he’ll end up being a game-time decision. Stay tuned.
