Titans Could Sign Top Free Agent After Latest Hiring

January 21, 2026 by Last Word On Pro Football

After hiring head coach Robert Saleh, there are a lot of things that will likely change with the Tennessee Titans, and they might entertain the idea of bringing in free agent Aaron Rodgers. According to several reports, the Titans have found their new head coach after failing to get several interviews with a few head coaching candidates. Since Saleh has a relationship with Rodgers, it shouldn’t be surprising if he brings up the possibility to the team about signing him for one season. While it won’t rub the right way for Cam Ward, it would be an opportunity for the young quarterback to learn from Rodgers and take over during his third year in good hands.

Titans Could Sign Top Free Agent Aaron Rodgers After Latest Robert Saleh Hiring

The Titans don’t have the best offensive roster in the league, but they can easily make a few moves to make significant adjustments. Rodgers didn’t have the best pass-catchers during his time in Pittsburgh, other than DK Metcalf, but he made things work to help them sneak in the wild-card. This is the exact foundation that the Titans should keep an eye on if they want to sign Rodgers. The former Super Bowl champion isn’t the same anymore, but he has the experience and leadership to leave Tennessee in a better place.

He isn’t going to build Rome in one day for the Titans, but it should set the team up for success. Ward hasn’t gotten the chance to prove himself with a complete offense, and bringing in Rodgers could help him. Either way, Rodgers should receive some type of interest for the reason of having a one-year run that can leave a team better than they were once the quarterback retires.

Other Possible Destinations

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers might need to consider the same situation. Quarterback Bryce Young is returning on a fifth-year option, which means they haven’t completely committed to him. If the Panthers want to sign a veteran quarterback, they’d be better off getting Rodgers on a short-term rental. The Panthers have the talent between Chuba Hubbard, Tetairoa McMillan and Jalen Coker to make a run for at least the NFC Championship Game. As long as they sign a possible low-stakes receiver like Brandin Cooks, who’s going to be a free agent, then the Panthers might have a decent chance.

This doesn’t mean it’s over for Young. It would build something for him to lean on and put the young quarterback in the best position to win the Super Bowl one day.

Minnesota Vikings

Meanwhile, the Vikings may revisit the idea of signing Rodgers. The veteran was linked to Minnesota several times, but head coach Kevin O’Connell stuck with JJ McCarthy as their future. Since McCarthy hasn’t done much to impress the offense, despite improving towards the end of the 2025 season, the team might have to consider Rodgers. The veteran won’t be god out there, but his presence might make it easier for Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison to haul in the deep passes from him.

Miami Dolphins

New head coach and former Packers Jeff Hafley might keep his eye on Rodgers this offseason. Even though reports say he’s interested in Malik Willis, nobody should put it past him if he winds up signing Rodgers as well. Tua Tagovailoa’s time in Miami is pretty much done, which opens up the idea of Rodgers running it back with former Packers personnel and putting the Dolphins back in the postseason.
