Welcome to the All-Time Favorite Viking Team series. We’re going through and voting by position for your favorite Viking players. There are no set criteria other than they played for the Minnesota Vikings. It’s your favorite player at that position.

This is the 2nd article of the series. Center was wrapped up yesterday. Today we’ll continue with the two men on either side of the C. It’s Offensive Guard Day and we’ll use the top 2 for the starting lineup. There are two Hall of Famers and a few others to choose from.

Steve Hutchinson (2006-2011)

Hutchinson joined the Vikings via the poison pill contract. He’s a 5x First Team All-Pro, 2x Second Team All-Pro, 7x Pro Bowl, 50 Greatest Vikings and Hall of Fame beast of an offensive guard. He blocked for most of Adrian Peterson’s prime and seemingly the last time the Vikings had a good offensive line.

Randall McDaniel (1988-1999)

We continue with another Hall of Famer on the OL. Randall McDaniel is a 7x First Team All-Pro, 2x Second Team All-Pro, 12x Pro Bowl, Ring of Honor, 50 Greatest Vikings and Hall of Fame Offensive Guard. If he isn’t great enough himself, his nephew plays for the Minnesota Wild.

Ed White (1969-1977)

White was part of the great 70s Vikings. He was 4x Second Team All-Pro, 4x Pro Bowl and part of the 50 Greatest Vikings team. He had a bit of a split career spending the 1st half with the Vikings and the 2nd half with the Chargers.

David Dixon (1992-1993 & 1994-2004)

Dixon played opposite Randall McDaniel for the great run of the late 90s Vikings. He only missed 3 starts in his last 7 seasons with the Vikings.

Milt Sunde (1964-1974)

Sunde was from Minneapolis and graduated from Bloomington High School (Abraham Lincoln High). He was part of the 1960 Minnesota Golden Gophers National Championship team. He was named to the 1966 Pro Bowl team and part of the Vikings’ 25th Anniversary Team.

Larry Bowie (1962-1968)

Not many will remember Bowie’s career. Bowie started all 92 games he played in until his career was cut short due to blood clots in his brain.

Wes Hamilton (1976-1985)

Hamilton started 92 games over 9 years for the Vikings. He was excellent when he played but was too oft injured.
