Vikes Views: Who is Your Favorite CB Prospect?

The NFL Draft is a little more than a week away. The Minnesota Vikings are in an interesting position. From on outside perspective, it’s difficult to know which way the team will go with their first pick. CB, DL, IOL, RB, and other positions have been projected to our favorite team in purple. Today, I will start with the most popular choice. Which CB prospect do you prefer from this year’s group? I will leave Travis Hunter out of this, as I don’t see a possible way he ends up in Minnesota.

Jahdae Barron- Texas – 5’11’ 201 lbs

Barron is my prediction for the Vikings selection and I think he’s a high end slot CB. I don’t know if I trust him on the outside immediately, but he would fit perfectly on the inside as he learns.

Will Johnson – Michigan – 6’2” 203 lbs

Johnson is taller and fits a little better on the outside than Brown. He isn’t the best run support CB and he doesn’t have elite speed. He missed a chunk of last year with a turf toe injury and isn’t running because of a hamstring issue. Johnson is talented, if his body holds up.

Trey Amos – Ole Miss – 6’1” 195 lbs

Amos has excellent ball skills and is quick to react. He had 13 pass breakups with Ole Miss last year. He’ll likely sneak into the 2nd round and could be a steal for the Vikings if they don’t go CB in the 1st.

Maxwell Hairston – Kentucky – 6’1” 183 lbs

Hairston ran the fastest 40 time at the NFL Combine at 4.28s. He’s a lanky 6’1” prospect and missed a chunk of the year with a shoulder injury. It’s intriguing, but not my favorite pick here.

Benjamin Morrison – Notre Dame – 6’0” 190 lbs

Morrison is another CB prospect that missed most of the season. He went out in Week 6 with a hip injury. If he was healthier, he would be a top 10 pick IMO.

Azareye’h Thomas – Florida State – 6’2” 198 lbs

Thomas is smart football player with good size. He lacks a lot of refinement in technique and doesn’t quite have the ball skills to be a high end prospect. The tools are there for Flores to do good work with Thomas. He’s another one I like in the 2nd round or later.
