More action from the front office

With most of the work with the team’s players officially in the books for a while, the Minnesota Vikings are now taking actions with members of the coaching staff.

The team has announced that they have agreed to a contract extension with offensive coordinator Wes Phillips. The financial terms of the deal were not made available, but Phillips is now under contract to the team through the 2026 season. His original contract was set to expire after this season.

Phillips came to the Vikings when the team hired Kevin O’Connell ahead of the 2022 season. He was on the staff with O’Connell when the Rams won the Super Bowl in 2021, serving as tight ends coach for three seasons.

The 2025 season will be the fourth for Phillips as the team’s offensive coordinator, making him the first person to hold that job for at least four consecutive seasons since Darrell Bevell held the position from 2006 to 2010 under Brad Childress.

With extensions for O’Connell and Phillips officially in the books, the team might now turn its attention to defensive coordinator Brian Flores. Flores has a contract that is set to expire after this season, but could be a contender for head coaching spots around the league if the Vikings’ defense continues its solid play.

Congratulations to Wes Phillips on his contract extension to remain with the Vikings!
