Andrew Van Ginkel enjoyed a career season in his first year with the Minnesota Vikings.
After a standout season in his first year with the Minnesota Vikings, edge rusher Andrew Van Ginkel has been voted to the NFL’s Top 100 at No. 88. For those that don’t know, the NFL Top 100 is voted on by the players themselves, meaning this is as credible of a list as it gets.
Van Ginkel came to the Vikings from the Dolphins as a free agent last offseason in hopes that he’d help reshape the edge rusher room following the loss of Danielle Hunter. Those hopes paid off immediately as Van Ginkel posted career highs across the board with 79 total tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks and two interceptions (both returned for touchdowns) to go with six pass breakups and a fumble recovery.
For his efforts, Van Ginkel was named to the first Pro Bowl of his career and earned a nod as a Second-Team All-Pro by the Associated Press.
