Earlier on Monday morning, I wrote that the Vikings were one-point favorites over the Detroit Lions via the odds from Draft Kings Sportsbook. Within two hours, that was already out of date.
By 11am central time, the line had moved to the Lions being one-point favorites over the Vikings.
As of this writing, the odds still have the Lions favored by a point. That is quite the swing, as the books initially had the Vikings as a one-point favorite on Sunday night, the fourth of December but that flipped around considerably quickly on Monday morning.
What could have caused that type of overcorrection? There are a few different things, but the most likely reason was that the betting sharps jumped on the line and they likely heavy favor Detroit based on their own lines.
Seeing a line move two points isn’t unheard of, especially when you talk about injuries. The line for the Vikings’ week one game against the Green Bay Packers shifted four points overnight due to some injuries on the Packers including All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari.
This isn’t the end of the world for the Vikings, but it does feel a little disrespectful.
